Ann Wilson (Heart)

Originally from San Diego, Ann Wilson’s powerful soprano vocals ranging three octaves make her an absolute must on this list. Alongside her sister Nancy Wilson, the band formerly went by the names White Heart and Hocus Pocus before being known as Heart. Emerging in the 1970’s, Wilson cited heavy metal as one of her main influences. This is quite evident on tunes like “Crazy on You.” Of course, the band is probably best known for their song “Barracuda.” Wilson is a force to be reckoned with among female singers in the rock and metal genres.
