Farrokh Bulsara — better known by his stage name Freddie Mercury –cements his position on this list with vocal abilities that surpassed his flamboyant and larger-than-life persona. Born in Zanzibar to Parsi parents, Mercury was the whole triple-threat rock star package. He was a gifted song writer, a charismatic performer and entertainer, and a guy could sing ranging a whopping five octaves. Mercury formed Queen in 1970 with guitarist Brian May. His formal piano training as a child often came into play with many Queen songs — including one of the greatest songs to ever be written in “Bohemian Rhapsody.” With this one song alone, Mercury proved he can be a rock singer, an opera singer, a gospel singer, and much more.
