Maynard James Keenan (born James Herbert Keenan) is frontman to A Perfect Circle and Tool. A progressive metal band, Tool essentially created their own genre of music. With lyrical themes of spirituality, identity, and transcendence, Keenan’s command of language is possibly even more impressive than his understanding of rhythm and melody. Layered and complex, Keenan evokes feelings of disgust, disdain, anger, and lust seemingly with ease through his singing. After a thirteen year hiatus, Tool put out the highly anticipated album “Fear Innoculum” in August of 2019.
