Emerging out of the early 1990’s music scene was the band Stone Temple Pilots. It was fronted by singer Scott Weiland. Interestingly enough, Weiland met bandmate Robert DeLeo at a Black Flag concert in Long Beach, CA. The two realized they were actually dating the same girl. They would later form Stone Temple Pilots. Weiland tended to change his style drastically throughout his career in a chameleon-like way. Vocal influences such as Jim Morrison can be heard in Weiland’s singing style. A troubled musician who struggled with both substance and domestic abuse, Weiland died of a drug overdose in 2015 at the age of 48.
