Forming in 1976, The Cars was an American rock band out of Boston. This band consisted of: lead singer and song writer Ric Ocasek, bass player Benjamin Orr, Elliot Easton on guitar, Greg Hawkes on keyboard, and David Robinson on Drums. Their first album, The Cars, was bought over six million times and was on the Billboard top 200 for over two years.
In 1978, The Cars was labeled “Best New Artist” by Rolling Stone and won an MTV award in 1984 for their video “You Might Think”. The band ultimately disbanded in 1988. In 2018, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, where they played their final performance with their remaining members.
