Sting was born in Northumberland, England, in October 1951. His birth name is Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner, but everyone knows him as Sting since he helped start The Police under that name at a young age (it started in 1977, so he was 26). He played with the group for 7 years until 1984, and then branched out as a solo artist in 1985.

Since then he has been wildly successful. He has won 17 Grammies, and even a Golden Globe and an Emmy. He has been inducted into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, as well as the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

In 2019 he was estimated to be worth $320 million, putting him in the top 10 of richest English musicians. His career is still going strong to this day.
