Slayer was a heavy metal (rock) band founded in 1981 in California. They were one of the original bands in the genre now known as “thrash” metal. The band members have included (alphabetically), Tom Araya, Paul Bostaph, Jon Dette, Jeff Hanneman, Gary Holt, Kerry King, and Dave Lombardo.
The band produced 17 studio albums, extended-play albums, and other compilations, four of which were certified gold. It received 5 Grammy nominations and won two for Best Song (2007 & 2008). Slayer disbanded in late 2019.
