Lynyrd Skynyrd, one of the earlier 60’s rocks bands was founded in Jacksonville, Florida.
The band had hard times, losing Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines, and backup singer Cassie Gaines were killed in an airplane crash on October 20, 1977. They relaunched just two years later, stopped tow years later and then relaunched in 1987, and have been active ever since.
They are currently working on their fifteenth album. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006. They currently have estimated album sales of 28 million as of 2018.
