“Ziggy Stardust” appeared on the 1972 David Bowie album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. The unique concept album went to #5 on the UK Albums Chart and also to #75 on the Billboard Pop Albums chart and sold over 2 million copies. The track was recorded at Trident Studios in London and was produced by David Bowie and Ken Scott. The original vinyl album contained the instruction: “TO BE PLAYED AT MAXIMUM VOLUME.”
