The Byrds were an American rock band formed in the mid-sixties. One of their major hits was “Turn,Turn,Turn”, and is the band that David Crosby, later from Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young got his start. The unique sound the band created in their songs was achieved by mixing the sound of traditional folk music with the sound of bands like the Beatles and other British bands that were popular at the time.
Also very instrumental to The Byrds’ signature sound was frontman Roger McGuinns’ use of a twelve string Rickenbacker guitar, as well as their use of vocal harmonies. In 1991, the five original members performed for what would be their last time on stage together for their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
