Released as a single off of the 1999 Red Hot Chili Peppers album Californication, “Scar Tissue” went to #1 on both Billboard’s Hot Modern Rock Tracks and Mainstream Rock Tracks charts and won a Grammy Award in 2000 for Best Rock Song. Marking guitarist John Frusciante’s return to the band after rehab following heroin and cocaine addictions, the album became a huge success for the act, selling over 16 million copies worldwide. This track and the album were produced by Rick Rubin.
