The first hit that broke the band, “Today” was actually the second single off the Smashing Pumpkins 1993 major label debut Siamese Dream, the first being “Cherub Rock.” Rising to #4 on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks and #44 on the UK Singles charts, it also helped the album sell over 5 million copies. It was recorded at Triclops Sound Studios in Marietta, Georgia and produced by group leader Billy Corgan and Butch Vig (Foo Fighters, Nirvana).
