From Nirvana’s third and final (studio) album In Utero, which was released in 1993, “Heart Shaped Box” became an instant huge hit at radio. It quickly went to #1 on Billboard’s Modern Rock Tracks chart. It was produced by Steve Albini and was one of two tracks on the album mixed by Scott Litt. Cobain not only wrote the music and lyrics, he also wrote the treatment for the wildly imaginative and MTV award-winning video clip of the tune.
